School of Mission

a year of transformation

School of Mission

BE INSPIRED, BE DISCIPLED, BE EQUIPPED

We exist to mature and multiply disciples of Jesus throughout Pakistan

SOM – a year journey

School of Mission exists to help young people cultivate a stronger relationship with Christ, and this is accomplished during a 12-month discipleship program. During that time, participants receive regular training and Biblical instruction while practicing cross-cultural engagement and local church ministry. This full-time residency is designed to removed young men and women from their normal life routines and give them the unique experience of living in a diverse multicultural community, thereby preparing them for a lifetime of fruitful ministry in Pakistan.

Content, Schedule & Methodology

Every year, the SOM starts in September and ends in August. Classroom time is essential for helping the students to build a strong experiential foundation for missions and ministry. Curriculum content includes missions (history and strategies), cross-cultural engagement, church planting, discipleship, spiritual formation, Biblical theology, and biographies of seminal mission figures. Courses are designed for group instruction and complimented by practical outside-the-classroom assignments and training. This includes door-to-door visits, literature distribution, and Sunday lineups.

Impact Story

"I want to become a change agent in my society"

My name is Zakaria and I am from Lahore. Before coming to Christ my life was filled with sinful indulgence. I was caught up in stealing and gambling, and my family was very worried about me. When I was 12-years-old, my mother passed away from breast cancer, and it was a very sorrowful season in my life. One day my uncle convinced me to join a Bible Camp that was being hosted by OM Foundation. At first I resisted the idea, but at last I decided to go, just to please my uncle. However, the experience was much better than I had anticipated, and I quickly decided that I would join School of Mission. During the 12-month intensive, I learned many things pertaining to spiritual growth, and I now feel desirous and equipped to be a change-agent in my community. I am very thankful to OM Pakistan and especially to the School of Missions team, who are continuing to have a life-changing impact in young people every year

Am I eligible for this?

Travelling Teams

THINK, TALK, TRAVEL

We want to reach every city, village and town of Pakistan, in order to bring lasting change to individuals and communities

Context, Schedule & Methodology

Explore your options and find your role. Traveling across Pakistan is an exciting endeavor, and with OM Foundation, you can have this experience for 3, 6 or even 12 months! You will start with team-building preparation and overall planning, then you will head off to cities, towns and villages in teams of either men or women. During this time, you will have opportunities to share about your life and faith, while also learning from other Christians at various ministry locations. There will be specific OM Foundation projects that you partner with, such as youth groups, street ministry, relief efforts, and manual labor. After weeks of travel, you will have time to rest, debrief with your team, and receive further training before you return to your home church. All traveling teams focus on four key elements throughout the duration of their journey: 1) Pre-travel training, 2) On-site training, 3) Serving others and learning from others, 4) Debriefing at journey’s end

Pre-travel training
On-site Training – Experiential learning
Opportunity to serve and learn from different cultures and leaders
Debriefing at the end of the journey

Women Team

Women of Faith, Serving Together

We invite you to join us in our unique journey of faith

We are learning to be conformed into the image of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ; to sit before Him as humble servants, and to then be empowered by His loving kindness into fearless service for God. We resolve to live out our faith one day at a time, in constant prayer and with sincere hope that we will see ourselves and others radically transformed by God’s grace. We, as women of faith and purpose, find our identity in being called “children of the living God”, and we rise as warriors of God’s love who fight against sin, evil and injustice on behalf of our families and communities

Context, Schedule & Methodology

It is fascinating that half of Pakistan’s population is made up of women, but also that women are so regularly oppressed and discriminated against. Our Women’s Team aims to lift up and empower women to be equal within and positive contributors to Pakistani society. The Women’s Team works six days per week, regularly visiting women, teenagers, and children who live in least-reached communities. The team is also hosting women’s fellowships and training camps, doing house-to-house visitation, praying for hospital patients, and conducting seminars for the benefit of local church congregations

Impact Story

God thinks I am special, and He loves women

Mehak mentioned to a Women’s Team member: “I want to be an evangelist but often I feel demotivated and discouraged. My community leader thinks that because I am a woman, I should not be working in the church; he thinks that only men should serve and not women. However, after working with the Women’s Team from OM Foundation, I have found confidence to pursue my passion, and to serve the local church faithfully. I used to believe that God did not want to use me because I am a woman, but through OM Foundation, I have come to learn that God thinks I am special, and He loves women just as much as He loves men.”

I decided to pray to God, to seek His forgiveness, and to live my life for Him

Amina said: “I am a national athlete who is very passionate about playing sports, in addition to coaching. However, I have struggled in the past with pain about my father’s death, which came about because of my lifestyle choices. Because of this pain, I have tried to commit suicide 15 times. I believed that his death was my fault. However, during an OMF Discovery Bible Study, I realized that I was living my life like the prodigal son in Jesus’ parable. I decided to pray to God, to seek His forgiveness, and to live my life for Him.” Amina has since joined our girls’ sports team.

Teenstreet

A way to live

Teenstreet

A VIBRANT RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS AND REFLECTING HIM TO THE WORLD

Tennstreet exists to provide young men and women with a purpose for living. It is a program that caters to the needs of Pakistani youth and addresses those needs in a meaningful way. We partner with local churches and likeminded organizations around Pakistan to motivate, train, and walk alongside Christian teenagers, encouraging them in their relationship with the Lord and teaching them how to embody Jesus daily within their spheres of influence

Purpose

Pakistan is a youthful nation. Indeed, nearly 65% of the population is under the age of 30, and this means that teenagers make up a sizeable portion of Pakistani society. Yet this time of life is often perplexing and overwhelming, and feeling marginalized will not benefit our young people. They need to be taken seriously; they need to be heard and appreciated; they need access to wise and Godly council. This is why TeenStreet exists. We give teenagers the opportunity to share their dreams and struggles in a friendly environment, and when they feel heard, then they are receptive to advice and guidance. In this way, we are privileged to invest in the next generation of leaders, who will also be courageous and conspicuous followers of Jesus

Vision

TeenStreet exists to engage teenagers; to help them develop Christian maturity, and to unlock their full potential as positive change-agents within society

Methodology

The beauty of TeenStreet is that we are a small-group movement, meeting together throughout the year to have fun, study the Word of God, and encourage one another to be bold in sharing Jesus’ love within our communities. In TeenStreet, everyone is called to be discipled and to disciple others. This is practiced within same-sex small-groups, where teens from 13-19 years-of-age meet together with one adult leader. There are 12 teenagers per group

Content

TeenStreet provides a year-long focus on the word “SEEN” from the book of Daniel. Theological and practical lessons are also drawn from the lives of Daniel and his friends

Journey

All coaches begin their small-group prayerfully, asking God to provide the right teenagers in accordance with His perfect plan. Once the small-group is formed, they journey together for a minimum of three years. This length of time allows deep relationships to form and meaningful change to take place within each participant

Eligibility

• Go through basic training.
• Be passionate about doing ministry with teenagers.
• Be theologically sound.
• Be visionary critical-thinkers.
• Be prayer warriors.
